Recording Josephine: Magnolia Electric Company at Electrical Audio

Recording Joesphine is a 70-minute documentary by Ben Schreiner following Magnolia Electric Company, led by Jason Molina, as they record their album "Josephine" at Steve Albini's legendary Electrical Audio studio in Chicago.

The film offers an intimate look at the personalities and creative process behind the album, capturing Molina, the band, and crew at work in one of Chicago's most storied recording spaces. A rough cut was screened at Schuba's before a Magnolia Electric Company show, and Pitchfork.tv later streamed the full documentary exclusively for one week. Limited-run DVDs with custom artwork by Molina and band members were sold during the band's 2009 European tour.
